You can take back your power.

Therapy for racial trauma in Atlanta GA

Have you experienced a bad encounter at work that you can’t stop thinking about?

Maybe there was a disagreement with your boss or a coworker, or you considered walking out of your job. Perhaps you noticed that your workload continues to pile up. You pick up the slack of your coworkers often. You notice they get away with more than you do. No one says anything when they don't get their work done. But, you feel pressured to perform well because you don't want people to think you are lazy.

You are tired of being overworked without the compensation. You deserve that promotion, but you are constantly overlooked. You may be tired of trying to blend in. The constant microaggressions from coworkers make work unbearable at times. You are tired of explaining a new hairstyle or being the expert on all things Black.

Maybe you tried to speak up for yourself, but you fear being labeled the “Angry Black Woman.” You often feel unseen and unheard. Perhaps you are feeling excluded, powerless, or alone in the workplace.

Whatever you are experiencing, you are starting to notice the impact of this in other areas of life:

  • Afraid to stand up for yourself at work or in your relationships

  • Complaining often to friends and family about work

  • Feeling depressed or anxious when you get home from work

  • Contemplating your value or self-worth

  • Considering a career change or making another transition

 Racial trauma therapy can help.

Work shouldn’t feel this way.

It may feel impossible now, but you can thrive in the workplace. You can advocate for yourself without the fear of being labeled or worried about retaliation. You can embrace your authentic self instead of fitting in.

I'll help you through this process by showing you specific tools and techniques you can use to combat workplace microaggressions. My approach to racial trauma therapy comes from a place of healing where you strengthen your self-worth and reduce race-based stress. We practice roleplaying, mindfulness techniques, assertive communication, and self-esteem builders to help you embrace who you truly are.

I also show you how to address microaggressions at work and in life. You can find yourself again. You can go to work feeling confident in your own skin. With the right tools, you can feel more empowered to get the respect you deserve.

It's hard fitting into the "norm." You don't have to keep living your life around society's standards or expectations. You don't have to keep feeling powerless. I can help you get there. It's time for you to use your voice to thrive in the workplace and other areas of your life.

  • Racial trauma is difficult to diagnose. Few assessments exist to diagnose racial trauma. However, some racial trauma symptoms are similar to those of PTSD. Suppose you are experiencing any of the following symptoms: Sensitivity to threat, flashbacks, nightmares, avoidance, suspiciousness, headaches, or heart palpitations; you may be experiencing racial trauma. Anxiety and depressive symptoms are also common.

  • While I can’t make any guarantees, if you have experienced racism or discrimination, you may be a good fit for racial trauma therapy.
